Pisgah Yarn & Dyeing Company, Inc.

If you think, as I did, that Pisgah Yarn & Dyeing is limited to Peaches & Creme worsted weight cotton, you, like me, would be wrong.

Yesterday I had an opportunity to spend an hour-and-a-half at the outlet store, and while I did not learn everything there is to learn, I learned quite a bit.

The first thing I learned is that I had no idea of the scope of the products offered. If you want to learn more, the website is a great place to start.

In my case, I was looking for a chunky weight cotton to use to make Eileen Tupper’s Nubby Brim Cloche which is number 92 on my crochet bucket list, and I found exactly that in Article 980, a double worsted weight yarn that comes in a huge array of solid and ombres. I ended up getting three cones: one in red, one in an orange called sunburst, and a third in a brown called chocolate. Here is a picture of two of the cones:

Another treat for me was a mercerized cotton cabled yarn that is part of the America’s Best product line. Made by using 3 strands of a two stranded twist of perle cotton and twisting those together, it not only comes in more muted colors, but also has an excellent selection of the shiny, bright colors I love so well:

In addition to the double worsted weight cotton and the cabled cotton, I also got two skeins of the perle cotton (also mercerized):

A cone of the premium Peaches & Creme in the pansy ombre:

And a cone of a sport weight cotton from the Honeysuckle line:

I would encourage anyone who lives anywhere near Old Fort or who finds themselves passing by on the way to somewhere else to stop and take a look at the outlet, and for those who live to far for that to be a possibility, definitely look over the website and see all they have to offer. I think you’ll find it was well worth the time

Now then, I need to get to that hat!
