My recent late night/early morning adventures walking our household’s most recent addition (a puppy named Clooney) have left me with less energy and verve than usual. One consequence of this compromised “verve,” is that my crochet progress is quite modest.
Such was the case today. With the best of intentions and a 3.5mm hook, I imagined would make many rows of of progress on the black and white ketjusilmukkahuivi (scarf) I have been working on. The result, was a bit different. I completed seven additional rows,
but did not get any of the ends woven in. Further complicating matters, much of the time I spent working on the scarf my mind wandered back to Alison Merlino’s Starling Handbag.
The free downloadable pattern gives directions for three sizes: small, medium, and large. I recently used a vintage red acrylic yarn from my stash acquisition to make the medium bag:
But as I worked the stitches for the ketjusilmukkahuivi my mind was looking forward to the next thing where I plan to use this heavy rug yarn that was part of my recent purchase:
and a 5.0mm (or 5.5mm) hook to make the large Starling Handbag.
No doubt if I can string together 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep, I will be better able to focus on the task at hand, and until then, I will do my best to ply my craft, one stitch at a time.
