So much crochet; so little time

When an icon like Elizabeth Taylor passes and proves that even icons are mortal, it is difficult not to assess one’s own mortality and to reassess one’s priorities.

My most recent birthday ending in zero had already pushed me me in a direction to re-evaluate, and as some of my readers know, I am in the process of deciding what my crochet priorities are. This extends to projects, materials, tools, and references.

The last couple of weeks, I have been sorting through every item I have that is related to my craft in an effort to determine what stays and what goes, and while I am not remotely close to finished with the project, I have made measurable progress as seen here in a closet I have recently cleaned out:

My recently reorganized closet

Today, I sorted through my queue at ravelry (an awesome feature that allows you to easily add projects to your master to-do list) and decided to add items 85 and 84 to my crochet bucket list:

Coming in at 85 is this Croco Flower from Bonita Patterns:

Elegant in it’s simplicity and ease, I plan to start with making one, but I expect they are like potato chips, and can see myself very easily making at least a dozen.

Capturing the 84th position is the other project that caught my attention: the Realta Afghan. Designed by Olivia Rainsford (aka the
Gingerbread Lady), this pattern is available for sale at ravelry, and I think the design speaks for itself:

If I live to celebrate my sesquicentennial, I don’t know that I will have enough time to complete all the things I would like to, but I will have an awful lot of fun trying.

  1. Love your choices for items #84 & 85!! Frankly the afghan looks very much like something you would design yourself…it’s definitely YOU:)
    TGIF!

PS I voted for you in the flammies competition:)

  2. Thank you for adding my Realta to your crochet bucket list 🙂 Having looked at your blog, I have to agree – I think we’re colour-clones. Anyway, life’s too short to ONLY crochet in beige, right?
