Almost rainy day crochet

Today started with much promise.

The air was crisp, there was a steady but not too stiff breeze, most of the pollen had been washed away in the rainstorm that brought 8 inches of rain to the area a little over a week ago, and I had no errands to run.

My plan was to crochet.

All day.

And I kind of did, but I kind of didn’t.

Yesterday I had gone to a coffee shop for rest and relaxation while drinking coffee, and I had made modest progress on the second of two scrap granny squares I am working on:

So today, I picked up where I had left off, and I was on my back deck enjoying the glorious afternoon and working on the second scrap granny square:

when I noticed dark, dark clouds accumulating south of my house. So I checked the weather forecast, and sure enough, there was a 40% chance of rain which at my house means that either the front yard or the back yard will get hit with something, so I decided that I needed to walk my dog Clooney immediately.

I packed up my things, put on my dog walking shoes, and headed out with my dog, and as we were getting hit by the occasional raindrop, I thought I had made the best decision possible, but it had interrupted my crochet, and when we got back to the house, other things started to claim my attention, and I had some trouble getting my crochet mojo back, but I did make limited progress:

And then, as I left to run late afternoon errands, I saw that not unlike last year at this time, the demarcation of where the rain begins was clearly visible at my house:

Where the rain begins
Where the rain begins

It isn’t easy to predict the weather at my house; whether the rain will fall in the front yard, the back yard, or both, but the rain persists, and so will I, moving forward one stitch at a time.

  1. Love your progress! I really like how the colors are “playing nice” with one another–knowing this is a scrap project!
